I thought this was a portrait of two expressions of anger: Rage and Alienation. Rage aggressively confronts its opponent, Alienation, who holds it at a distance with icy disconnection. They say poisonous, cutting words at each other. Their venomous words inflame the atmosphere and create a toxic environment.

A friend, seeing this piece, interpreted it to be the argument we have with our negative inner voice. I know her words are true. We must distance ourselves from the hateful undermining language we inflict on our own psyche. The source of it should be confronted, the air cleared, so we can breathe.
